A vibrant wedding day at Four Oaks Church, and celebrations at Fairlwans Hotel

Thank you so so much, the photos are absolutely amazing. We love them. You are both amazing guys.
You can’t help worrying about the weather on your wedding day. I have to say that I was a little concerned too, as Phil and I got our camera gear ready on the morning of Toni and Shannon’s special day last August. The sky was dark, and thunder was forecast…
As second shooter, my job is to be in the places that Phil can’t, as a another point of view. This is so important if space is restricted, as it can be in some ceremony venues; if we can’t move around it allows us to be in two places at once. First of all this case it meant I was photographing the groom Shannon getting ready at his house, while Phil photographed Toni’s preparations at her hotel and venue. Groom prep is always good fun, and usually quite a relaxed affair with plenty of laughs. There was one touching moment when Shannon opened a card and present left for him by his bride to be Toni. I stepped out of the back door of the house to take some shots looking back inside, as the lightning crackled overhead and heavy rain started to fall.
For that reason we didn’t stop for long to take pictures outside of the limousine that had arrived to take Shannon to the church. The ceremony took place at the beautiful Four Oaks Methodist Chuch in Sutton Coldfield. The minister there was so welcoming and accommodating, which made mine and Phil’s jobs really easy. Once again, being second shooter, I was able to capture the additional shots from another position and get some great pictures from high up in the gallery at the back. But, best of all, just as Toni arrived and walked up the path to the church, the clouds parted, and we finally saw some glorious sunshine! The ceremony itself was full of warmth and humour from the minister, and we were all treated to music from a local gospel choir.
After Shannon and Toni were declared to be husband and wife, it was off to their venue, Fairlawns Hotel and Spa, Aldridge, and I was very happy to see that the sun stayed out for us all. Having the guests relaxing and enjoying each other’s company outside made for some great photos from Phil and myself. After the meal there were some very entertaining and very heartfelt speeches, before Toni and Shannon hit the dance floor for their first dance. I got some lovely pictures of the two of them dancing with their little daughter.
Thank you to Toni and Shannon for asking me and Phil to be a part of your special day. We’re so glad the sun came out for you!
