Snowy winter pre-wedding shoot in Baggeridge Country Park

"Myself and Andrew were a bit nervous at the thought of having a pre-wedding photo shoot as we hadn’t done anything like that before. Straight away Phil made us feel relaxed and comfortable. Phil was very friendly and professional and the photos we received were amazing! We both feel confident about our photos for our wedding day."

We've talked about the unpredictability of the great British weather countless times on our blog. This spring has certainly been 'interesting' to say the least. Like a house guest outstaying its welcome, winter just hasn't wanted to head off on its way.

Sam and Andy's pre-wedding shoot seemed to distill the last couple of months of weather into a single session. As I drove up to Baggeridge Country Park, a very heavy blizzard arose, seemingly out of nowhere. It was a surprisingly short-lived snowy shower, so much so it had mostly dissipated by the time we met up, although there was still a bitterly cold breeze.

We decided to shelter in the park's cafe, to warm up a little and run through the plans for Sam and Andy’s wedding day. Once our warm drinks were finished (mine was a hot chocolate with cream), and we'd talked though all the important points of their upcoming marriage, we braved heading back outside to start taking some photos.

Throughout the rest of the shoot the weather decided to continuously alternate between crisp sun and heavy snow falls. It certainly added variety to their photos. Luckily both Sam and Andy remained brave in the face of frozen hands and toes. It's like I cheekily told them as we walked between shots, "You can't see shivers in photos'. I'm really pleased they endured the cold weather, as it allowed us to capture some impressive and rather magical photos of them both. I particularly like the depth the snow gives these photos - pictures you feel you could almost reach into yourself. Just like wedding day confetti!

They'll be exchanging their vows this summer, during which I'm predicting a much lower likelihood of snow.
