The refined elegant Regency setting of Shooters Hill Hall was the wonderful venue chosen by Becky and Matt for their late summer wedding day. The atmospheric building is now nearly 200 years old, set in ten acres of beautiful Shropshire parkland
The day started with plenty of champagne and giggles as Becky and her five bridesmaids got ready. Becky’s stunning beaded dress was complimented by the varied pastel shades of those of her bridesmaids, who all wore matching shoes.
There were a few moments of humour and tension as Matt's mum and bridesmaid Amy was helping set up the decorations in the reception marquee in an episode that will go down in history as The Wobbly Cake Stand. Matt and his dad eventually joined in a wonderful display of teamwork to stabilise this particular leaning tower. I made a mental note to definitely not bump into that table, and perhaps to avoid breathing when nearby, if at all possible.
Matt then slipped away to get dressed for the ceremony with his best man Craig; both looking great in their well-tailored blue suits. Craig discharged his best man duties very well throughout the day, but was particularly helpful with the always fiddly cufflinks and buttonholes.
The marquee adjoining the house was a wonderful backdrop for a heartfelt ceremony led by the Shropshire registrars. A particularly nice touch was the presentation of the rings inside a modified copy of Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone. The soft light in the marquee helped get some great shots of those special moments between Becky and Matt.
Then it was on to the celebrations! Family and friends enjoyed a lovely reception meal, with some entertaining and humorous speeches. The guests enjoyed playing with a dressing-up table and instant camera that had been provided. There were a lot of laughs, particularly over a ever-so-slightly disturbing rubber pig’s head.
Before we knew it the sun had set, and it was time for the evening party! At this point I am happy and relieved to reveal that The Wobbly Cake Stand had survived the day, and withstood the traditional cutting of the cake moment too. An awesome live band accompanied Matt and Becky for their first dance, and then everyone got up to join them. The dance floor antics were pretty spectacular and lasted well into late evening, with the reappearance of that pig’s head mask, and me dragging all the guys back to the dance floor to join the ladies that hadn't even stopped. We all know how has the best stamina when it comes to the dance floor don't we ladies?
Phil is amazing, such attention to detail in his photos. He really makes you feel comfortable during the shoots. Photos were perfect and he offers a complimentary pre-shoot which I can not recommend enough!
Very many congratulations to Becky and Matt - I hope your first six months of marriage has been as fun as your wedding day itself!
Here’s a highlights video, as well as some more of the pictures I captured during their special day.
