Normally I leave the blog-writing duties to Toby, but when a chihuahua is involved I muscle him out of the way!
Before meeting up with Hannah and Paul for their pre-wedding shoot, we had a chat with them at The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza where they explained that their chihuahua, Peanut, is going to be their ring bearer on their wedding day. I think it was at that point I started hyperventilating, and after calming down a little I insisted they try to bring Peanut on their pre-shoot with them. I’m pretty sure I stressed this as very important to them, but there’s always the risk they didn’t understand my breathy excitable ramblings, so I was unsure whether Peanut would definitely be joining us or not.
To my relief and excitement she was trotting alongside Hannah and Paul as they walked up to meet us at St Peters Church in Martley. Toby was quite taken by the 12th century church, so I’ll let him tell you all about that when it’s time to share some of Hannah and Paul’s wedding-day photos. My main concern with the church was ensuring Peanut’s safety up the aisle. There are couple of grates for her to navigate past with her tiny paws, be she’s pretty confident for such a little dog. I BELIEVE IN YOU PEANUT!
Whilst we were there, the Revd Canon David was kind enough to take some time out of his day to talk us through the ceremony and what he was happy for us to do whilst capturing the ceremony. From experience we’ve found that every church and its officiants are different, and church rules for photography varies greatly. Revd Canon David was just as keen on us being able to get some great photos on the day as we are, and was very accommodating to help us do our job, something we are VERY appreciative of.
After chatting through Hannah and Paul’s plans we headed off on one of their local walks they often take Peanut on. We started at the church, taking in a few hills and several fields, including a turnip field with the biggest turnips you have ever seen. I’m pretty sure some of them were larger than Peanut.
Whilst on our walk Paul shared the story of how he had proposed to Hannah. His brother’s chihuahua had recently had puppies, and knowing Hannah would love one, he decided to adopt one when the puppy was ready. He surprised Hannah one day with Peanut, who had an engagement ring attached to her collar. The only problem was that Hannah was so understandably excited about Peanut the puppy that it took her a while to notice that Paul was actually tiring to propose too! Hannah I’ll be honest, if Toby had done the same thing to me, it probably would have taken me at least twice as long to notice, as I hyperventilated about having a chihuahua puppy.
We were treated to some great views along our walk, and then treated yet again at the end with the pleasure of meeting the rest of Hannah and Paul’s household; their two cats! I couldn’t resist a few photos of them both before we said our goodbyes.
Here’s a small selection of their pre-shoot photos, have I mentioned they include PEANUT THE CHIHUAHUA?!?!
