We met with Carrie-Anne and Olly at their chosen wedding venue, Himley Hall near Dudley, to discuss their wedding plans and take some fun photos.
The Dignums love Himley Hall because the house and grounds look amazing, and it’s just ten minutes’ drive from our house!
The rendezvous point was Himley’s fabled Log Cabin Cafe, where the tea is served in big mugs with thick handles, and stodgy bread pudding is sold by the slab. I love it!
Carrie-Anne has some very exciting plans for her wedding to Olly - it’s going to be a celebrant-led outdoor ceremony, with festivities in a lovely big marquee erected in the Hall’s grounds. She explained to us that Himley have never hosted anything quite like this before, but how accommodating and helpful the staff there have been.
Phil and I are really looking forward to shooting the ceremony outdoors, with all that great natural light, and as much space as we can ask for to move around. Fingers crossed for sunshine on the day!
Teas and coffees drank, and wedding plans discussed, we set out to stroll round Himley’s extensive park grounds together, and take some great shots. We always explain to our couples that the first five minutes of having your picture taken will feel weird, but Carrie-Anne and Olly were such relaxed naturals I reckon for them it was only only two!
If you’re a regular frequenter of our blog you’ll have seen what varied and exciting backdrops Himley Hall and its grounds have to offer. There’s loads of leafy countryside space, a lovely picturesque boating lake, and of course the genteel Hall itself. I always love taking our couples to the the big surprise Phil and I have discovered there: the “we promise we’re not going to murder you” concrete tunnels that you can stoop your way through to get to some amazing graffiti art! This always makes an urban colourful contrast to the soft summer greenery.
Along the way Carrie-anne, Phil, and I taught Olly about ‘kissing gates’. None of us knew if this is a Midlands thing or not, but either way we captured the ‘kissing gate’ in action. We also spotted some ‘interesting’ carvings in a tree we stopped by for some photos. See if you can spot what we mean in the photos below.
Carrie-Anne’s creative spirit meant that she was ready to suggest ideas for shots, which we loved. We spent a good few hours exploring Himley together, and by the end of it our lovely couple had definitely earned the flapjacks I’d bought for them from the Log Cabin!
Here’s a selection of pictures from Olly and Carrie-Anne’s top-notch pre-wedding shoot. We’ll be seeing you two awesome people very soon for your wedding day - we CAN’T WAIT!!
