Twenty Seventeen: A Personal Review
January 2018 Filed in: Personal | Annual Reviews
Hopefully you’ve already checked out our ‘Review of 2017 Weddings
’ post, if not make sure you take a look here
. As 2018 is still relatively new, and I have the excuse of being self indulgent for my birthday, I wanted to put another review stye post together to share. This time one containing some of my personal images from the last twelve months since my last birthday. As most people who work in the creative industry will tell you, it’s important to try and find time to use that creativity for personal projects too. It can keep you in touch with the reasons you started in the first place, and can be a great playground for experimentation and improvement.
The height of the wedding season through to the autumn is nonstop in this line of work. It’s rare to get a day off during that period, as I’ll either be on shoots or I’ll be at my desk editing. It means that Toby and I tend to have to take our holidays in the winter, as fitting time off in during the wedding season always proves so tricky. We try and fit in days out here and there throughout the year too, and often take a camera with us when we can. This collection is mainly from our breaks away or days out. Such as our visit to Wales in January, trips to Dudley Zoo and The Birmingham Botanical Gardens, plus my walks along Penn Common.
As well as portraiture, I also enjoy a spot of wildlife, landscape, and macro photography too. It means there’s a mix of subject matter in my selection. You’ll still spot the odd portrait in there though, most likely either Toby, or my good friend Steven who is also a keen and talented photographer.
I’m hoping to be able to continue to find time for my personal work thought 2018 too. If I do I’m sure I’ll be sharing the odd piece on Instagram
, and hopefully a 2018 personal review next year too.
I hope you enjoy them.
