Country house pre-wedding engagement shoot at Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa
June 2019 Filed in: Pre-wedding Shoots
We met up with Matilda and Terry recently to chat about their wedding plans and have some fun with our cameras. Walton Hall is a 16th century country mansion that makes your jaw drop as you catch sight of it after driving up the extra-long drive. It has a rich history of farming, code-breaking during World War II, and being owned at one time by a Lord Field, and later entertainer Danny LaRue!
It also has two receptions, so of course both Phil and I, and Matilda and Terry waited for each other in different places for a few minutes until we twigged!
A big part of Matilda and Terry’s day is planned to be spent outside on Lord Field’s croquet lawns. There will be plenty of outdoor games to play: Matilda’s family are from Sweden, so their baton-throwing game of Kubb will be one of them. We hope to get some dramatic shots without being staked like vampires! We’ve also been promised Guitar Hero on a big screen indoors in the evening, which should be hilarious!
We had a great time exploring the Hall itself, which makes an amazing backdrop for photographs both inside and outside. Then we strolled out into the expansive 65-acre grounds. There’s a lake with lots of moderately friendly geese and two photogenic bridges, and plenty of green and leafy spots to discover. Matilda alternated losing herself in the hanging branches of the willow trees, with hiding beneath Terry’s impressively long beard.
Here’s a little selection of pictures from our pre-shoot with Matilda and Terry, including some behind-the-scenes shots! They’re a really happy, friendly, laid-back couple, and Phil and I can’t wait to be a part of their amazing wedding.
